Ok, for those of you who know, when it comes to pokemon, I'm more about the monsters themselves. But there ARE a selection of human characters- male and female I do like.
Number 2: I don't watch the anime often these days, especially considering the fact that Ash is NEVER going to be the pokemon master he's always wanted 'thanks' to creators coming up with more and more seasons. I prefer the games. So the female characters on the list will have more points about the games than the anime. (a bit of the anime for a couple of the ones lower on the list though).

10. May (Gen 3- Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald)
May was the female character you could play as in the 3rd gen Game Boy Advanced games. If you played as Brendan (the male trainer in the gen 3 games), she would help you by having a friendly battle (a change from the whole 'mean rival' thing Silver aka Giovanni's son had in gen 2- but still enjoyed) and help you out at times. :)
In the anime, I know a lot of people complained about her replacing Misty- but lets face it- though I DO like Misty, we NEED to change protagonists around at times (which is what I LOVED about Digimon season 3) . From what I DID see of her though, despite her sometimes clueless nature at times, she is a nice person. At least she isn't like Dawn from Diamond and Pearl, whom I found whiny and immature.
Plus, from what I've seen and heard May actually has a cool selection of pokemon in the anime- ESPECIALLY BLAZIKEN who is my favourite starter of all time. <3 Others I love include her Glaceon, Wartortle (yes she evolved her squirtle, sadly not Ash) and Venusaur.

9. Elesa (Gen 5- Black and White and its sequels)
Oh boy, We all know how much PAIN we all went through via fighting her Emolgas in BW1. Two words: VOLT SWITCH. But neithertheless, battling her still gave as a hint on how to USE an Emolga in battle.
What sets Elesa up here though is her choice in electric types and her style :D
Apart from her infamous electric squirrel duo (Thank ARCEUS she only has ONE in BW2). She uses a Zebstrika (which makes a neat glass canon (as in strong hitter, yet weak defense- I've used one in my BW1 run and loved it) in my opinion- plus Zebras are cool) and Flaaffy, who is the 2nd stage of one of my all time favourite electric types- the Mareep line <3 (Ampharos for the win :D)
Her gym is one of the more fun and creatively designed ones I've seen- ESPECIALLY in BW1 :D in BW2- we get a fashion show- which I think is pretty cool too :D
Also, yes she's a model, but she also someone who helps others in self esteem. While that may seem strange, at least it shows that she doesn't always care about looks and helps others (like what she did Bianca in BW1 :D) That I like :)

8. Misty (anime- Kanto- Red, Blue, Yellow/FireRed and LeafGreen as well as post-game gold/silver/crystal/HGSS)
WHAT? Misty's Only at number 8? NOOOOO
Me: GUYS calm down! I DO like her. But yes, I can see some flaws.
Yes, several people online HAVE pointed out Misty's flaws in the anime, I do agree with them to an extent. However, like with other bashers, they do go TOO far.
Yes, it was wrong of Misty to hit Ash and such and she does go overboard on her temper at times I agree (especially when it came to the whole 'bike' thing). Also, yes while she did DO some stuff in the Kanto anime, she didn't do AS much compared to what many people make her out to do- especially when compared to the next entry on the list. Also in the game, I thought it was kinda rude of her to call the player a pest all because you came to her on that place in Cerulean city at the wrong time. (well, the player didn't know...)
BUT I will give her this:
1. Ash can be an idiot at times and Brock is a woman chaser. She needed to keep them in check. (my favourite 'telling-off-Brock' line being: 'She kisses boo-boos, not Bozos.' XD. I actually DO find Brock pretty funny- he does need to be kept in line though. Though his woman-chasing joke DID get pretty old after....countless episodes. writers: yes you can write a recurring joke, just DON'T overdo it to the point where it becomes stale.)
2. She is constantly picked on by her 3 older sisters- calling her a runt. If I had to deal with siblings like that, I'd be annoyed to no end. Trust me, I was picked on a LOT in high school- and with a short temper like mine, I can't stand the pain and get get furious.
Also, am I one of the people who actually LIKES her Togepi (later Togetic)? because a LOT of people I know seem to see him as a 'Scrappy Doo'- even to the point where they made the writers write an evil togepi episode in Diamond and Pearl. Seriously. that's a BIT much.

Gamewise though, I applaud her on her choice of water types- mainly Lapras, Milotic and Starmie in post game gen 2 HGSS. Starmie makes a great fast water type with a cool movepool and Lapras is one of my favourite bulky special offense water/ice types that can pull of an ice STAB move :D :D :D As for Milotic- Marvel Scale and reliable stats :D plus I love serpentine creatures.

7. Iris (Black and White)
Yes- I LIKE Iris- mainly gamewise, though I must say, from what I've seen from the BW episodes, She has accomplished quite a bit.
But moreso the games. Heck in the first BW, she's the one you battle in White version (in black you battle Drayden) but in BW2- *SPOILERS* SHE's the FREAKING CHAMPION *END SPOILER*. Now that show's how much she's probably worked on.
In the anime, she has a pretty decent selection of pokemon- but I think her Axew is the cutest. (Though I must say her phrase 'What a Kid!' is pretty annoying -_- )
:aww: and in the Keldeo movie, she can freaking FLY A BLIMP. But what sets her higher is her game portrayal- and the pokemon she has in BW2. And how she helps you too.

6. Fantina (Diamond and Pearl)
Ah- The artistic French Ghost trainer and master contester of Hearthrome City :D If you know me, Ghost types are one of my all time favourite types. I've heard she's pretty hyper in the anime (which I haven't seen her in), but from the games, I do like her as a character :D I've heard a lot of people complain about her Mismagius giving them a hard time. but nope- not me.
Her gym DOES feel a little awkward (math problems?) but what makes up for it are her stained windows and the pokemon she uses- especially Gengar and Mismagius :D :D
Also- her style :D I love her crazy hair and dress that matches one of her pokemon XD (yes, at times I'm about the whole 'pets are like thier owners thing)

5. Professor Juniper (Gen 5)
The first female pokemon professor game freak has come up with- Juniper seems like the kind of person I'd get along well with- if she were a real person researching for creatures (or real world animals). She also is pretty helpful in the game- like when you call her on the Xtranceiver for help (others being Cheren and Bianca :D)

4. Sabrina (gen 1)
If you know me, you know I have a thing for the creepy/sinister characters. And Sabrina is NO exception.
I personally think she was a great antagonist of a gym leader- being able to turn Brock and Misty into dolls/shrink the heros as well as manipulate a creepy child doll as a puppet puts her high in my books. And to me- her episodes, along with the Ghost of Maidens Peak, the tower of terror and when she finally makes a friend (Haunter vs Kadabra)- were the ones I watched most as a kid and stuck in my mind.
Though I must say- she has a pretty messed up childhood- obessesed with her powers and all to even almost crushing the house.
Also- I must say, back before Dark and steel types were introduced (Yep- no dark or steel types in Red/Blue/Yellow Game Boy games), psychic types were pretty much BROKEN. I know some people who went through a lot of heck trying to beat her in the game boy games. Thank God Johto fixed this up. and FireRed Leaf Green remakes made it a bit easier.
Speaking of Johto- in HGSS, Sabrina gets an Espeon aka. One of my FAVOURITE psychic types :D and in Black and White, she stars in Poke-wood :D

3. Jasmine (Gen 2)
Ah yes, according to :icontoxicwyvern: (and a statement I agree with him on)- the ONLY female gym leader with the right attitude when it comes to loosing against the protagonist. (Stop being a whiny baby Whitney and Claire- while I LOVE your choice of pokemon, STOP being a try-hard- you LOST, accept it.) I'm not always big on steel types, but I DO like Jasmine. She is really nice to Amphy and tries to cure him. Also, She seems pretty polite, especially when you rematch her.
Though I DO quite like her choice of steel-type pokemon- my faves being Skarmory and Empoleon- and to a lesser extent- her main pokemon, Steelix.
In Diamond and Pearl, she was also seen as a contester- and her Steelix's named is Rusty :D

2. Shauntel and Caitlin (Gen 5)
It was hard deciding which of the 2 Elite 4 members of Unova region would be up on this list- but I decided both- for different reasons.
Shauntel- a Ghost type trainer who is a creative writer and puts passion into writing stories. She even treats battles like a story (look at some of her dialogue in BW/BW2 and see what I mean) VERY cool indeed.
Plus I love the choices pokemon she has- ESPECIALLY her Chandelure (and later, a Froslass in the rematch)....no wait- ALL of the ones she has are cool.
Also, she was really awesome when congradulating the protagonist.
As for Caitlin
There's something so...mystifying about her room. Maybe its because I'm drawn to the night sky. OH- but its gets cooler in BW2- when she gets this really cool entrance by entering via a rose :D :D :D
Despite her sleepy demeanor, she is pretty determined in battle and has this cool-calm vibe to her. THAT I like :D :D She also gets some points for having the final form of my all time favourite pokemon evolution line (and I bet you know which one it is :D :D)
These 2 ladies are just awesome in attitude and in style :D

and the number 1 pokemon girl is

Karen (Gen 2)
What can I say about her? She's really awesome that's what. Not only is her room cool and pretty fitting for the type she wields (like some night sky or underground cave/mine) but her choices in pokemon- ESPECIALLY during the rematch.
Lets see: Absol, HONCHKROW, Weavile, Houndoom, Umbreon and Spiritomb.
Just wonderful. :D :D
Also: I love the fact how she has this dark, yet playful vibe to her, yet when she looses, gives a motto that I think many pokefans sadly forget these days (and this motto I apply dearly to myself):
'Strong Pokemon. Weak Pokemon. That is only the selfish perception of People. Truly Skilled Trainers should learn to play with thier favourites.
AND. HOW.
You know, I personally think this statement note only applies to strong vs weak, but cool vs ugly/cute. Nowadays, people like to diss others for thier choices in pokemon and such (seriously go on youtube and the top 100 pokemon lists and whatnot- the comments get VERY ugly).
If only people were to apply that phrase, I feel that the fanbase wouldn't be as bad as it is (sure, there have always been insane fans in the poke-fanbase, but it seems that there's still a fare bit of them)....

Honourable mentions:
-Melody/Furara (Pokemon 2000- The power of one)
-Roxie (Black and White)
-Marley (The EV training girl with the Arcanine Diamond and Pearl games)
-The Kimono Girls (HeartGold/Soul Silver and the episode 'Trouble's Brewing' in the anime)
-Professor Fennel (Black and White)
-Marina (Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal and the anime special 'Legend of Thunder)

So that wraps up my top 10 pokemon girls meme.
