I had a hard time doing this one since I have too many favourites from generations- especially 2, 4 and 5 (Sinnoh and Unova). As a note: these pokemon are my actual TOP favourites due to the fact that 1. They are personal favourites for seveal reasons 2. I've battled with them IN THE GAMES, not simply because of the anime or just design wise (I've stopped watching the anime at Johto and have only seen the first 5 pokemon movies).

So here is my list: (all pokemon are listed left to right)

Kanto (gen one- with the original 151 pokemon)
Ninetales: As kitsunes are one of my favourite Japanese mythological creatures, Ninetales has always been one of my favourite pokemon I have one in Soulsilver which I use for casual battles and she's fast and powerful

Vaporeon: Yes, I just so happen to be an eeveelution and cute pokemon fan, but not those that go too far. If I had to pick a favourite from the original eeveelutions- Vaporeon is my favourite. A cute, unique and elegant design plus a high special attack, its one of my top favourite 1st gen water pokemon tied with Gyarados I have 2 vaporeon- one in Soulsilver (who is male) and one in White (who is female)

Articuno- My FAVOURITE of the legendary bird trio- I just LOVE its in-game cry and graceful design. Being a bird person, I could NOT resist putting Articuno on the list. (I actually felt so sad that articuno was the first of the birds to get defeated so quick in Pokemon 2000 ) It was very useful for me in the elite 4 and This pokemon was the ONLY one I've ever raised to level 100- and that was AGES ago on my Blue version. Thanks to the HeartGold/Soulsilver remakes, we can catch all 3 legendary bird pokemon For this deviation I've decided to make Articuno's background the water/ice cave which he lives in in the actual game rather than the island in the 2nd movie

Mew: My FAVOURITE of the little legendary pokemon (although victini comes very close), Mew has always been a favourite of mine since the first movie- so cute and powerful One of the fewer legendary pokemon I actually use in battle for story-mode (I often don't use legendaries- I prefer having one or none in a team).

Johto (second gen- Lots of my favourites abound here):

Lugia and Ho-oh: My ALL TIME favourite legendary duo (gen 5's Reshiram and Zekrom coming close). I may be a die-hard Lugia fan (for so many reasons- his colour scheme (I tend to lean towards blues, whites and silvers), song in the 2nd movie and his cool bird/sea-beast design), but I also ADORE Ho-oh just as much. I mean, its a RAINBOW PHEONIX! AND Ho-oh comes with the sacred ash, which revives your pokemon when you catch him

Ampharos: I LOVE the entire mareep evolution line. This cute yellow creature is one of my all time favourite electric pokemon next to gen 1's Raichu and gen 4's Luxray. Plus My female ampharos kicked a LOT of tail in the elite 4 with her Thunder and Signal beam

Espeon and Umbreon: My favourite of the eeveelutions. Umbreon was my first dark type pokemon (I LOVE dark types) and I have one in White who is useful to me in battle- especially against the elite 4's Shauntel and Caitlin during the rematch. Espeon is also on my list because of its high speed and special attack- and my female one also played a key role indefeating the elite 4 in White during the 2nd round.

Kingdra: I'm a seahorse fan and dragon-type fan too, so Kingdra makes the list for me I have one named Posideon and he's pretty strong

Hoenn (gen 3- pretty underrated region next to Sinnoh if you ask me):
Absol: My favourite Dark type from gen 3, Absol really kicks tail (trust me, I have one in Soulsilver). Also, its pokedex entry says that people blame it for all sorts of disasters (tornados, earthquakes etc) happening...poor thing. Absol has the ability to predict disasters, but sadly people think its bad luck and bringing them disasters when its actually trying to warn people about them

Salamence and Sableye: I have a FEMALE Salamence in Soulsilver- these flying dragon pokemon are one of my faves next to gen 1's Dragonite evolution line. Sableye (the purple imp-like creature on Salamence's head) I just ADORE because its a ghost/dark type, has decent defenses and is based on goblins and such They are both cave/mountain dwelling pokemon, so I put them together. Also, Sableye loves gems, and dragons love gems- so viola

Blaziken: Charizard used to be my favourite fire starter pokemon, until I raised my Torchic I got from Steven in SoulSilver. Now imported to White, my Blaziken, like my 2 Johto eeveelutions, played an important role in defeating the elite 4 in the rematch. I'm not always one for fighting types, but I love fire pokemon and Blaziken is now my all time favourite fire starter pokemon- with gen 4's Infernape (fire monkey) coming close (as a bonus, Blaziken resembles one of my favourite Digimon, Garudamon (c) Toei and Bandai - which I really like )

Milotic: I adore serpentine creatures, so its natural Milotic makes the list. My fave 3rd gen water pokemon, I love her design and I have a female one in White who is one of my strongest. I'm actually very happy they made Milotic easier to obtain in gen 5

Sinnoh (gen 4- pretty underrated region, but a lot of my fave 'spooky' pokemon are from here ) :

Honchkrow and Mismagius: the 2 pokemon which you obtain by evolving 2 Johto pokemon with a dusk stone. I ADORE dark and ghost pokemon. Ravens are one of my favourite birds, so Honchkrow is on this meme. My Honchkrow, Mortimer in SoulSilver is one of my main flying types and a powerful attacker. Meg, my female mismagius is one of my favourite ghost types to use in battle

Weavile and Froslass: I put these 2 together because their little forms are found in the snowy region of Sinnoh. Froslass is my favourite Ice pokemon of all time because of her high speed and special attack she is an ice/ghost based on the Yuki-onna or female ice spirit, another of my favourite Japanese mythological creatures next to the kitsune. My Froslass who is now imported to white is one of my strongest pokemon next to my Blaziken Weavile is such a cool, strong and sneaky dark/ice type- and a speedster too.

Togekiss: A non-legendary epitome of cutesy and strong in my opinion, My Togekiss is one of my favourite pokemon to use in battle Air Slash and aura sphere for the win

Gliscor: The flying/ground Scorpion-bat pokemon, Gliscor is another favourite 'spooky' pokemon of mine It has an access to a lot of strong fan-related moves and a high attack and defense Plus I love its design (not much of a scorpion person, but I love bats )

Unova (gen 5- BOY I have too many favourites here!):

Swoobat and Gothitelle: my favourite 5th gen psychic pokemon. Swoobat is my main flying type in White. Being a fan of bats, I'm happy they made another one besides the Zubat evolution line (people find them annoying, but I adore the zubat evolution line ) . Gothitelle and her evolution line I adored ever since I got one from a trade from a friend of mine. My Gothitelle is one my strongest in 'White' Plush she is based on the gothic lolita style, which I really like

Victini and Zoroa: I put them both together as they are event pokemon Victini is just one of the cutest little lengendaries since Mew in my opinion. I haven't seen his movie, but the little clips of it show he loves macaroons I love macaroons too My victini is still in training, but I have a Zoroark who kicks a lot of tail. Now, if Vulpix and Ninetales represent the benelovent side to kitsune, Zoroa and Zoroark are the dark and mischevious, devious, sneaky tricky side, which I really like about kitsunes. However, I think Zoroa is a LOT cuter than his evolved form

Serperior and Samurott: Yes, this is the region where I have TWO favourite starters. I've started with Oshawott and BOY, he is SO strong as Samurott, I'm so proud of him. I really like the fact he's like a cross between a Narwal and a seal
You'd probably guess Serperior would make my list seeing as I'm a fan of snakes and serpent like creatures Well, I got a Snivy from a friend of mine and now I've raised him into a Serperior. He's So fast and strong- and I love the fact he has high defences and speed. One of the fewer grass type starter pokemon I REALLY like.

Chandelure: When I first saw this guy- I was like OMG I GOTTA HAVE HIM. My current favourite ghost pokemon- he's GHOST AND FIRE- 2 of my favourite elements. Plus I adore his gothic-like chandelier design. Raising one from a Litwick- my Chandelure ROCKS Beware his high special attack!
