Description

A meme of my top 10 ghosts :D :D

10. Josette (Dark Shadows (c) Tim Burton) - Sure she wasn't in the movie much, but she did play a (somewhat) important role- especially when aiding Victoria in finding her place or so (haven't seen it for a while...just this year.......I also LOVE how erethreal she looks- floating through Collinswood....

9. Emily The Original Beating Heart Bride from Disney's Haunted Mansion. - While I DO like Constance (the current Muderous Black Widow Bride), I still prefer the mysteriousness of this faceless, beating heart bride. So.....eerie....and I like it because it adds a lot of that mysterious gothic flare to the mansion in my opinion.

8. Phantasma (Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School)- My FAVOURITE of the Ghoul School girls :D She's so crazy and funny and wild and cute- representing the playful side of ghosts :D

7. Gastly, Haunter and Gengar (Pokemon)- Technically, Froslass is my favourite ghost-type pokemon, but I prefer to classify her as my favourite Ice type pokemon due to the fact she's more on the ice-element side. So not counting her, my FAVOURITE ghost type pokemon of all time are the trio from Generation 1 (who also happen to be my FAVOURITE generation 1 non-legendary pokemon)- BOTH in the games AND anime. Gengar is AWESOME in the games (especially my Soulsilver version) and a COOL Special ghost-type sweeper who was part of my elite team in my first round of SoulSilver- VERY helpful in the Elite 4 too. But what made me put ALL THREE of them on this list is also due to the way they made me smile and laugh via their crazy antics in the anime. Believe it or not, My favourite pokemon Kanto episodes are 'The Ghost of Maidens Peak (LOVE that talking Gastly), 'The Tower of Terror' and 'Haunter vs Kadabra' :D The trio of ghost pokemon in the pokemon tower are hilarious, adorable (thier personalities that is) and remind me SO MUCH of ANOTHER trio of ghosts on this list........

6. Casper and his Uncles aka. The Ghostly Trio (1995 Casper): while the old cartoons of them are cute and Scare School is guilty pleasure for me, I adore the 1995 movie version of them the most. Sure the movie has its flaws, but it will always be one of my FAVOURITE movies of all time. The uncles ALWAYS never fail to amuse me- especially Stinkie and Stretch XDDD. Also, Casper in this film touched my heart so much- ESPECIALLY his relationship with Kat and his line 'Can I Keep you' which always brings tears to my eyes. (I'm a die hard CasperXKat Shipper and will always be, so please no bashing) Not to mention his backstory- it really reminds me of those tragic and bittersweet old ghost tales I've read. and it was the FIRST Supernatural CreatureXHuman romance I EVER saw.

5. Sir Simon De Canterville (the Canterville Ghost (c) Oscar Wilde) - One of 2 Literature ghosts whom you will see on this list. For those of you who don't know, The Canterville Ghost is a ghost story by Victorian Author Oscar Wilde which tells of a family whom moved from America to England to stay in a house, which just so happens to be occupied by a ghost. In my opinion, one of my favourite Oscar Wilde stories, full of humour and creepy suspence and tears. and I'm not surprised it got several adaptations (the screenshot here is from the 1986 movie) Sir Simon is very interesting character- he is both a shape-shifting prankster AND a tragic character (he misses his wife who has moved on). Ultimately, it is the youngest member in the American family who gets to befriend him.

4. The Ghost of Christmas Past (A Christmas Carol (c) Charles Dickens- version you see here- Muppet's Christmas Carol (c) Jim Henson): the 2nd Literature ghost you see here on this list. Now I really like all 3 of the Christmas ghosts in this tale. But if I had to pick a favourite, it would be the ghost of the Christmas past. Usually portrayed as a young lady in most adaptations, this ghost is very surreal in the book, which makes it even more cool- undetermined age, plus you can't make out if its a male or female. Jim Henson did a really great job of bringing this ghost to life on screen, a childlike voice and I LOVE the flowy effect she (I like to assume the one in this version is a female) has- like an actual ghost :D

3. Hazel Ainsworth (Dead Gorgeous (c) BBC productions): There seems to be an ongoing thing with the ghosts on my list being a trio OR part of a trio (in Hazel's case, she's the youngest of 3 sisters) Ok, so she's not so well known, but if you want to know, Dead Gorgeous is an Australian-British Serial about 3 sisters who died in the late 1800s in a carriage crash, only to wake up as ghosts in the 21st Century. Now thier mansion has been renovated as a school, but they are still wanting to stay. With that the ghost councilers gave them a 'human status' (think Casper turning human in the 1995 film)- while which they retain some of thier ghostly powers of going through the walls and such. However, they MUST keep thier ghost status a secret (or something like that, haven't seen it for a while)
Now out of the 3 sisters, Hazel is the youngest, but she's the most mischevious, playful and eager to learn (and curious about the modern world, unlike her middle sister who thinks things were much easier back in the victorian era). Not to mention, she's very smart- which is a plus in my book :D

2. Beetlejuice. OH YES :D Now we're talking :D The infamous 'Ghost with the Most' Beetlejuice is simply AWESOME- and one of my FAVOURITE Tim Burton characters. He's so zany and whacky and gross and mean (but funny XDDD). While I REALLY like the movie with Michael Keaton, The ANIMATED Beetlejuice is my fave- his antics, his puns, his friendship with Lydia (aww :D) and I could go on and on :D :D

and the NUMBER ONE Ghost is....

1. SAM WHEAT from the movie Ghost (1990) (c) Paramount Pictures)
Now If you haven't seen this film, its about a young couple- named Molly and Sam whom have moved into an apartment and have started a relationship. Sadly, during a mugging incident on the street, Sam is murdered- and is cursed to remain a ghost. He feels like he can't move on to the next world due to his unfinished business (protecting his loved one from that mugger- even if she can't see him (how sad...)). Now the reason WHY I put Sam up SO high is because he's simply wonderful- though he's a ghost who should be moving on, He will Do ANYTHING to ensure his living loved one is safe and sound. I don't want to spoil the film, but what I can say is: it will make you cry (a LOT), interest you (Sam learns a few scaring tricks to beat the bad guys XD and some ghost tricks to show Molly he's still around) and move you so much. RIP Patrick Swayze (the actor who played Sam) you are missed immensly.

Honourable mentions:
-The Maitlands from the Original Beetlejuice movie (c) Tim Burton
-Mismagius and Chandelure from Pokemon (c) Satoshi Tajiri and Nintendo, Game Freak.
-The creepy Children from the novel 'Turn of the Screw (c) Henry James
