A telling of Hans Christian Andersen's 'The Swineherd' with :iconstars-in-well: 's OC Queen of Spades, a theater spirit, as the narrator.

Queen of Spades (narrating): and so, young Prince Patches sent of his most precious posessions- the Rose tree and the little nightingale- to Princess Loralei. They were SO precious that they had to get sent in silver cases.

*Scene: Loralei's castle, The coach arrives with the 2 silver cases. Dummy Girl is busy dusting the hall, when she hears the coach driver call out*

Coach Driver: New Gifts for the Princess!!!
DG: Loralei! A prince has sent you 2 gifts! I'm not who it is, but those silver cases look grand!
Loralei: *SQUEEEEEE!* New Gifts! I bet they're from some rich prince!!!! I think he must REALLY like me :D
Mrs Lillitandersen: Aww, how happy I am for you my daughter, Now go down, and see what this secret admirer of yours has given you :D
Lady Mickey: Rich Prince?!
Lady Monico: Lucky her- lets find out!

*Mickey, Monico, Dummy Girl and Loralei ALL dash down to the all as the gifts were set out. Dummy Girl notices a letter on one of the cases and reads it:
DG (reading silently): to Princess Loralei, a lady as beautiful as you deserves these gifts. They don't cost much, but I must say they fit you perfectly, signed,

Prince Patches of his very small kingdom

DG (to herself): OH no, what if the princess doesn't accept these gifts? maybe I can find my way to patches' small kingdom and tell him that there could be another way to win her heart or so? If all else fails though, she'd have to find another prince..*sigh* if only she wasn't SO greedy.

Cut back to the servants opening the first silver case revealling the rose tree.*

Mickey: errrr....
Monico: Errr, that flower matches your hair, Loralei!
Dummy Girl: er.....it only has one flower....don't you think it could grow more roses?
Loralei: *picks the rose* OH- a ROSE, I'm the happiest girl in the world (sarcasm)! ANY man can send a rose to ANY lady! How Common! Why doesn't this prince give me jewels or ANYTHING which fits me more!
Dummy Girl: O_O *to herself* I KNEW she'd reject the rose*
Mickey: yeah, now that i think about it- its a natural tree too
Monico: It will SO wither and die- and not last forever like a diamond!
DG: Alright then, out it goes *goes up and takes away the rose tree*

Queen of Spades (narrating): Then the 2nd gift was revealed- the little nightingale who sang so sweetly and landed on Loralei's hand- almost as if it was asking her to sing with it :aww:

Loralei: (glares at the bird): WHY couldn't you be a clockwork nightingale encrusted with gold and silver*?
*the nightingale then looks at her sadly, with tears in its eyes :( *
Mickey: Yeah, Loralei, also, if this prince EVER wanted to send you a pet bird, why couldn't he at least afford something that's more you?
Monico: yeah, like a peacock, or even a swan Or like, a graceful snow goose, or even better- a goose that lays golden eggs?
Loralei: indeed! ALL I get is a nightingale- and not even a pretty clockwork one- just an UGLY, PLAIN BROWN REAL LIFE one. *turns to the bird* GET OUT OF MY PALACE! MY PALACE HAS NO PLACE FOR PLAIN OLD BIRDS LIKE YOU!
*the Nightingale tears up- and flies outside the palace, chirping very sad and mournful tunes*

Queen of Spades (narrating): sad news came to the poor Prince's ears, but yet, being determined, he decided NOT to give up on winning the princess's heart. Upon hearing some news from Chambermaid Dummy Girl that someone was needed to care for the pigs in the sty located at the back of the castle- he put on some rags and covered his face with mud- taking the job of a royal swineherd.

* Triva- what Loralei says is a reference to another Hans Christian Andersen tale- the Emperor and the Nightingale, which there was a contrast between a REAL nightingale and a beautifully decorated clockwork one.

Sure those gifts are natural and won't be there forever, but it's the thought that counts and she should at least try to enjoy them while they last
