Pre-FiM Lauren Faust Stamp by Roses-and-Feathers Pre-FiM Lauren Faust Stamp by Roses-and-Feathers
First of, 2 things: 1. This isn't a total anti stamp (but some of you can use it if you prefer Faust's previous works over FiM) 2. I'm NOT trying to be a hipster, but I will state something in my description.

Growing up, shows like Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends were HUGE impacts on my artstyle. It was only sometime recently that I found out that Lauren Faust, better known as the creator of the uber-popular internet phenomenon/girls' franchise G4 MLP, otherwise known as Friendship is Magic, worked on these shows, which made me happy to know there was a specific someone who worked on the shows that influenced my artstyle since I was little :D . Sadly, we all know the mainstream brony crowd today only worship her for creating FiM (to me, I don't really follow the series much now sorry but the one thing I did get out of it which I love was the villian song 'This Day Aria' at the end on season 2 due to how much it reminds me a bit of the OST to one of my favourite Gothic adventure fantasy PS1 video games- Medievil- especially one of the instrumental orchestrated versions on a vid on youtube.) but about us people who were inspired by some of her early work to draw american-retro pop-art style?

To me Lauren Faust (and those others who worked on PPG, Dexter's Lab etc) sort of a backbone influence on my art (how I developed my own simple, yet expressive style) since I was 10-12 or so.

I may probably list several MORE influences (artists and real life experiences and more) on my art ( these include Tim Burton, Charles Addams, cute/creepy books and films I've loved since a child, trips to Europe, a couple of old 90s (not recent) Shoujo anime I grew up with and old 80s girls' toys (for the feminine side that is), real animals, nature, etc etc), but I probably be a pretty long list.

Fave this stamp if:
-You happen to prefer Lauren Fausts' previous works over FiM
OR
-You happen to like FiM AND her previous works equally
OR
-If you have been influenced by her works for a long time since you were young (in my case)
Either one.

enjoy :D

I loved Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home, and Dexter's lab growing up, I didn't really care if Faust made it growing up, nor do I really care if she was involved in MLP at all.

I love her past work I just didn't know her or that she made it. But one thing is going to be the biggest that spreads her name and that's what mlp did. so it does come off kinda hipster-ish but I know you say that's not were you're coming from. But I understand were you're coming from.

Its a shame that people seem to forget that Lauren Faust had a life before MLP: FiM.

What's interesting is that she initially had an idea for a show called Galaxy Girls. However, Hasbro wanted her to do a MLP remake so she did that.

She isn't part of MLP anymore so she's working an her original Galaxy Girls idea. However, I feel that MLP has been overshadowing Galaxy Girls. (I haven't seen the series yet bit it seems similar to Powerpuff girls (at least in style).

I know. It is a shame. She was one of my inspirations growing up (along with gothic cartoonists Tim Burton and Charles Addams and also many other things in life). Foster's Home was my fave of her works and same with Dexter's Laboratory (PPG was nice too- especially the fight squences and villians and some of the characters, but I felt it overshadowed Dexter and Fosters, both which I loved more. Plus Dexter of Dexter's Lab is one of my all time favourite cartoon characters.)

I wish that Galaxy Girls got a series or so. They look so awesome (I've seen them in her gallery)

Agreed.
Not to mention that the Fosters unicorns (who've only appeared a couple of times in their show) were also prime examples (but seemingly forgotten ones)of how not all unicorns are girly/sissy horses. (Besides FiM's Shining Armor according to some fans)

Just ask Terrence (Macs brother in Fosters) who called the unicorns girly- and MAN did he regret it after being threatened by them....

Am I the only one here in the whole realm of the internet who believes that Faust had little to do with the actual success of FiM as opposed to the idea that Hasbro knows what they're doing as a whole?

I mean, art wise, I find the show to be rather bland and typical of most cartoons of the 90s; simple, little detail, and and stereotypical use of color schemes and character archetypes. Musically though, on the other hand, the show's gone through leaps and bounds thanks to Ingram and his associates all coming up with a collection of songs and scores that create the right kind of whimsy, magical atmosphere without being too saturated and sappy like the art of the show. In my honest opinion, the music is a character all itself and can take life of it's own (hell, just drop the horse puns from "At the Gala", "The Flim Flam Brothers," and "This Day [Aria]" and you've got something that could work well into a modern Broadway Musical). And that's just for music... We also have to account for the voice actors (except for Tara Strong, since her performances are bland and she plays herself, not the character) and the corporate side of Hasbro for working with the fans as they have... Bronies give Faust too much credit, mostly due to nostalgia of the shows you've mentioned (even though I didn't really find those shows to actually be interesting).

Errr it's ok If you disagree with me (btw: I've always loved those shows i mentioned not because of Nostalgia, but inspiration and I can rewatch them on YT as well, ok?) I'm one to actually go back and watch\play something and still enjoy it if I can.

But I agree on the music and the power of Hasbro...

Nah, I understand, we all have our favorite old shows/movies/games/toys we like to come back too.

But yes, what could easily be one of the biggest "triumphs" from FiM is pretty much ignored by most of the fandom. =/

^^ thanks. Glad you understand  I don't just love certain 90s/early 2000s movies/shows/games because of nostalgia, but I can always come back to them and see how they've influenced my art style and sense of humor.

PS: I see we have extremely different likes and dislikes and influences and beliefs, but its still cool.
My dislikes? Not really a big disliker but the one thing I hate above all things are fanbrats who are rude to others and can't respect other people's opinions.

I admit, despite the fact I do really like MLP, the fanbase is going out of control. People seem to forget that Faust had other well-done shows - the ones you mentioned.

Er I liked it when I first saw it last year, but come season 2 I kinda lost interest due to (just my opinion) some character decay and the many rabid fans (though I respect the sane fans), plus I've preferred Faust's previous works (like the shows I've mentioned)

Shame that people don't remember Faust's other works (except maybe PPG) and forget that she only rebooted the series and the real creator and designer of the entire MLP franchise (since g1 aka the 80s) is Bonnie Zachelane (or however you spell her last name)

The only thing (in my opinion) which kept my interest are some of the broadway-style music used in some songs (mainly the This Day Aria villian song)

LOL- take away the lyrics (some of the instrumental versions of it are WONDERFUL) or swap some of the character names/horse terms out and you'll get one epic song to use in a lot of things :D
