MD Cosplays classic characters

Description

Took 2 days to finish- my OC Miss Melanie Dirge's cosplay pic set. Here in all these frames she cosplays book characters- ALL from novels from the 1800s. I'm very happy on how this deviation turned out :D

Top Left: Miss Dirge as Alice from the Alice books: 'Adventures in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass' by Lewis Carroll. My personal favourite of Miss Dirge's cosplay costumes :D She is cosplaying the curious and sweet alice (but still some of her personal gothic touches- and her trademark light blue rose) of the books, although I did make her cosplay the darker, more gloomy Mcgee version in some of my previous deviations. With her are two of her animal friends- Banshee the ghost kitty as the Cheshire cat and Sir Ossifus the Skeletal whippet Dog as the White Rabbit. Around them are various objects which represent both Wonderland and Looking Glass Land (that looking glass frame has a checkerboard pattern as a reference to the fact Looking glass land's theme is chess.)

Top Right: Miss Dirge as Dorothy Gale of the many Oz books by L Frank Baum- mainly the first three 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (which the well known 1939 MGM musical film was based on), the Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz.' With her are Sir Ossifus the Skeletal Whippet Dog as Toto and Harpy of Scare School as Belina the chicken, another of Dorothy's animal companions on her adventures in Oz. I've decided to go with the book's Silver Slippers rather than the well known Ruby Slippers because I think they fit her cosplay's colour scheme a lot more (silver goes well with blue roses and a white and blue dress I say :D). There is a pumpkin in the background as a reference to one of Dorothy's friends, Jack Pumpkinhead. Yes, that silouette in the moon behind the Witch of the West's - that's a flying monkey :D

Bottom Left: Miss Dirge as Mina Murray/Harker of Dracula by Bram Stoker, mainly the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola version (this Mina outfit was also referenced by Ravena's outfit in 'School for Vampires' :D I wanted to do a semi-foggy London street like background. Of Course, Ashley of School for Vampires is here as the infamous count (the Gary Oldman outfit when the count is in London) - along with a white wolf (for those of you who've seen the 1992 version of Dracula, you'll get why there's a white wolf with him). I wanted Miss Dirge's mentor raven Nevemore aka Morey to get a role in one of these frames, so here he is as Abraham Van Helsing (a reference to the fact he's very intelligent and wise, but also often gets concerned with MD whenever she gets involved with anything with vampires) XDDDDD

Bottom right: Miss Dirge as Marie/Clara from the Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A Hoffman (the novel) and Tchkaikovsky (the Ballet). The heroine was known as Marie in the novel, but more famously Clara (since the ballet is more famous). In her arms is Ashley as the titular 'Prince of the Dolls'. Also in the pic are Mayor Vincent the Ghostly Mayor of Duskville as the mysterious toymaker Drosselmyer ( :iconcheshirepanda: 's favourite character) and Scare School's Alder and Dash as the two headed Mouse King (though in the book the Mouse King had seven heads)

enjoy :D :D
